Hyllested Church

From Fodsporet, there is a lovely view towards Hyllested Church atop a ridge.

The church is in many ways the epitome of the Danish country church, with its whitewashed interior and exterior, both intimate and friendly. The tower houses an interesting old clockwork which was mentioned as early as 1661 and which still works.

B.S. Ingemann, the writer of hymns, married his wife Lucie in Hyllested Church in 1822. In 1813 he wrote a poem in praise of the rectory of Hyllested.
